Growth and decay...
Ghislaine de Feligonde Roses
Have just realised that the change-over of the seasons from spring to summer is here. The time when my garden experiences a rather torrid acceleration of growth and decay. Either, or, both at the same time. Aargh!
Plant and pull out...
So I must plant things as well as pull things out. For example, my annual seedlings (Cornflowers and Lavateras) can go in the gaps where the forget-me-nots have been pulled out. Must remember to water them.
Regarding decay, I think the Dogwood by Middle Bridge has died. The white bracts in spring were half-size, and - oops - now there are hardly any leaves to take over. Wonder why?
Thursday 21st November
Would I have the patience to be a wildlife photographer? Have just been standing in the middle of the Hump Garden roses waiting for a cloud, so my pictures of the new Honorine de Brabant wouldn't be so sun-glary.
Honorine de Brabant Rose
Ten minutes watching the bumble bees and the honey bees, pulling out slim annual grass seedlings, just waiting. Wearing my good clothes and shoes, so I couldn't get down in the dirt and weed. Couldn't get my big purple mohair woolly sweater anywhere near those pesky forget-me-nots going to seed. And the day time temperature? Nine degrees Celsius. Nearly summer? Humph.
Pierre de Ronsard Rose
And now it's raining. Great for the garden. Must mention the new climbing rose Pierre Ronsard that I planted on the house pergola. Have just seen a Google picture of it in full glory. Wow! I sooooo hope it will do that for me! Go Pierre, you good man you.
Love my garden so much. And when I feel on top of things I love all the changes. I could do without so many dying forget-me-nots, though...
