Pink Rhododendron

This is one of the first rhododendrons I planted in the garden. This shrub grew quietly at first, minding its own business. But fairly soon it would cover itself in spectacular late spring pinkness. Such a pretty colour!

 A beautiful shrub.
Deep Pink Rhododendron

The pink rhododendron brightens up this part of the Septic Tank Garden for many weeks. There are flowering cherry trees nearby with spring blossom, and hosts of golden daffodils - need I say more? It's all so beautiful...

Big Pink Rhododendron

Oops. Naturally one expects a rhododendron to just keep getting bigger and better over the years, and not to have too many branches dying off. But this has been happening lately. And it may be caused by silly me dumping large quantities of wood ash from my bonfire all around the base of the shrub. I thought I was doing a good thing. Hmm... Trying to redress the acid-alkaline balance, I've just added some rotted horse manure and leaf mould. Knowing my lack of scientific thought, this will likely finish the dear thing off!
