What day of the week is it?
Love the way that the days of the week in January merge into each other! Summer holidays at home - just magical. What day of the week is it anyway? Do I need to know?
Thursday 9th January
Decided to spread the garden love around a bit more today. Chose the little garden by Duck Lawn. Weeded, trimmed, gathered up bundles of dead Cordyline leaves from the lawn (so it can be mowed without the leaves disabling the lawn mower).
Then wandered around with dogs and camera and found lots of roses flowering again. Well, some of them haven't really stopped flowering. Wonderful!
Friday 10th January
I decided to go outside today. Put on my grubby bottomed gardening jeans. They can get even grubbier (must remember not to sit down on a house couch while still wearing them).
- Pot-Bound! :
- Can recommend using a sharp steak knife when working with a difficult shaped pot.
So guess what I have spent the last hour doing? Clue : I've been sitting down on the front lawn with a kitchen steak knife and a hand digger.
You guessed! Removing a very pot-bound coarse green Carex from a large curved blue pot. It took lots of grunt and patience. Called in the man-muscles of Non-Gardening Partner for the coup de grace.
A very green garden
Then I went off to do some weeding and trimming in the Location de Jour - the house side gardens. Spreading the love around some more. Lots of Cleavers had draped itself all over the Teucrium shrub. Naughty! And (oddly) very satisfying to pull it all off. Must be something primeval...
Saturday 11th January
We went swimming and then stopped for coffee and sushi. On the way home, it started drizzling, and hasn't really stopped. More wetness from the sky!
The Christmas Jigsaw is Finished!
Today I've finished the jigsaw, read half a book, and listened to the cricket. Thought about some wet weather gardening, decided not to. Enjoyed the rain while staying dry and sheltered.
