Mindful
Am trying to stay mindful of my five New Year's Resolutions. Five! Five important signposts to ensure that my 2025 is an orderly and well-constructed year.
NYR2025 :
- Brush hair every day.
- Be nicer to Pebbles.
- Talk to NGP about Non-Gardening topics.
- Finish what I start.
- Care for the little things.
So I brushed my hair properly after swimming, and spoke in a warm, kindly way to Pebbles the dog (who was barking at me and blocking my way). Earlier, in the car, I'd talked to NGP in the car about Putin (definitely a non-gardening topic, a terrible choice, sorry about that). Two resolutions remained - to care for the little things and to finish what I'd started.
Phormium Flowering
I deliberately chose a little area with some of last year's mess on the lawn. Scooped it up. Gave a sort-of little Phormium a trim, pulled out little seedling Oaks, chopped the sprouts off the Oak stumps in the lawn.
Phormium Cleaned up
Worked hard for over three hours while listening to my cricket radio (India playing Australia in a test match). My socks and merino top both became covered with stick-on biddi-bids from the old forget-me-nots, and had to be thrown out. Oops. Came inside, cleaned myself up, and did more of my summer jigsaw. 1000 little pieces...
Early days...
OK, so I know it's early days - the fourth day of the year, to be exact. But I'm having lot of fun remembering them and ticking them off.
