Sunshine gardening!

 Sitting on the cottage doormat.
Hello Speckles

Have just had my early cup of tea on the cottage verandah with Speckles the stray. He smooched me, walked over my legs, bunted my hands, those much-loved hands. I know, I know. He loves me because I feed him. But please, not those dried cat biscuits. Mushy food is much tastier.

Shivering...

Sat there shivering, thinking about my family who are in the mountains tramping (and possibly also shivering). Loving the fallen oak leaves covering Pond Paddock (for the moment they do not need to be raked up). Beautiful autumn colours. What to do first today?

 Early morning.

Sunshine gardening...

The answer is obvious. Some sunshine gardening! This will be a joy, after the drizzly days we've been experiencing. I'm not complaining, not really, but gardening in the drizzle day after day produces lots of muddy clothes and lots of washing. One can easily run out of socks, for example.

Sidetracked...

To be honest, the sun was shining a bit yesterday, but I got rather sidetracked playing the piano - Bach's English suite in E minor (have never played this before) and Ravel's Le Gibet. Spell-checker want me to call it Le Giblet, but oh dear me, no! It's a seriously mournful, sombre piece, nothing to do with chooks.

 Such a beautiful sight.

This morning we took Winnie to her lovely therapy vet, then I worked all afternoon weeding the Allotment Garden. I only cleared out two barrow loads - why this should take four hours is a puzzle. I kept wanting to stop, but resisted. It's done, and I even trimmed the fence-line roses (which don't really ever get properly pruned) so I could crawl underneath.

I blame next-door...

I know it's small-minded, but I totally blame next door for all the grass weeds. Was very tempted to throw them all over the fence. Yours! Take them back!

Saturday April 26th

This afternoon I moved up to Car Bridge and did some clearing and weeding there. There's now a wee area around one of the big gum trees which would suit a ring of species Agapanthus. Must remember. Alas - the spring on my good secateurs came off. It's lost.

As the daylight faded I burnt my mess, including a trailer-load of trimmings from the shrub by the very front gate. Loved having the sun back.
