Serious conversations...

Hello to my lovely garden - nice to have a serious summer conversation with you.. You obviously enjoyed the big irrigation whooshing around you last night! The serious watering regime has started.

 Pond Cottage in Summer
My cottage.

Regarding my new feral cat (who I have named Foxie). Last night at dusk I put food out on the cottage verandah, and Foxie arrived promptly. He/she stared at me, then lost confidence and zoomed off, then reappeared to eat his/her food. Got a good look at this recent arrival. Foxie is ginger, with white cheeks and nose. Slightly built - could be a teenager, or a badly nourished adult. Has a darker ginger tail with longer fur. A very scaredy cat. Hope I can help.

May not have survived their shift?
Lost - Kronenbourg and Claude Monet

Gardening thought : I've 'lost' the hybrid tea rose Kronenbourg and the striped rose Claude Monet. Both were shifted from unsuitable positions, and have not been re-sighted in the Hump Garden where all my sad roses end up.

Monday 16th December

Both stray cottage cats turned up for their meals. And dear darling Speckles was still there, curled up in his cat box, in the morning when I got up. So I grabbed a cup of tea from the house and went back with some breakfast to sit with him. Hiss, hiss, hiss. Smooch, smooch, smooch. Make up your mind, Speckles.

One of the ramblers which used to cover the woodshed.

Mid-afternoon...

Have spent a pleasurable three hours with my small-medium friends. One thing I really enjoy - the interesting conversations about propellor design, grasshoppers on the summit of Foggy Peak, and so on. Friends of my own age often choose more mundane topics (like putting their washing on the line).

Blessed rain!

I've just arrived home to do some gardening. But no! It's started raining! Yippee! Much better, and I am so happy. And I managed to bring my washing in before it got too damp.

Tuesday 17th December

Yeay! The rain yesterday evening was substantial, and my garden is breathing a sigh of relief. This morning I found Speckles again in his cat basket, waiting for breakfast. All the cat food disappeared in the night, so I'm hoping that Foxie had his share.

How much gardening?

I was out again spending the day with my small-medium friends. Today we talked about all sorts of things. So how much gardening did I do when I got home?

Well, I wrote a good list, then promptly sat down and watched my latest Youtube friend Joe Ryan ride his Royal Enfield around Southern Australia and Tasmania. For two hours! How silly am I, who has never ridden a motor bike in her life? Please don't answer that.

Here's that list, just for the record :

  1. Collect two barrowloads of trimmings.
  2. Plant out remaining flowering annuals.
  3. Trim edges around Septic Tank Garden, dig out Periwinkle.
