The colours of summer...
Have just done a quick wander around with the camera and the dogs. Am loving the new colours of summer against the backdrop of greenery. The roses usually grab the limelight, but many of them have now finished their first flowering flush.
Then I quickly trimmed some of the back lawn edges of the back lawn with the edging shears. I will clean up properly later, I promise. It's time to trim down the Delphiniums, to encourage new flowers in autumn. And clear the Alkanet so that the Hostas can have some fresh air.
Hostas
Right. Am off to my second to last Christmas music gig, wearing my elf-green jeans, hee hee. This one features my Chamber Music group - no singing required.
Much later...
I had a great gig, followed by two great, purposeful hours gardening. It doesn't take much longer than two hours to make a huge difference. I need to remember this.

I also need to remember that the garden by the Herb Spiral is just not sunny enough in summer to be a suitable place for daylilies. OK. I can shift them out in the autumn. And the new Flower Carpet roses on the other side of the pergola have been completely smothered by Queen Anne's Lace. Something needs to be done about this.
Overnight...
First the rain started. Yeay! Then Ginger Foxie my new stray cat (with a very pretty face) appeared at dusk and ate a good meal. Listened to the rain on the cottage roof and smiled. Felt so proud that I'd done some good gardening.
