Navigate & Explore the Website

Moosey has written over a thousand pages and many thousands of words about her garden. We have organised the website into a simple structure and have added features to help you explore the garden with ease.

We have organised the pages of this website into directories (groups) based on their content. For example, you are currently reading the 'Navigate & Explore the Garden Website' page from the 'Welcome to my Garden' directory. Sometimes there are a number directories with a similar theme, such as each year of Moosey's gardening journals, and so we group these directories together.

Homepage

The homepage images give a taster of the delights within...!
Directories & Pages on the Homepage

All of the directories and directory groups are listed on the homepage - clicking on the directory image or text will take you to the directory page.

Some individual pages can be reached straight from the homepage, such as the most recent journal entry and the garden news page. Hopefully this will make visiting easier for our regulars.

Directory pages

There are nearly 100 directories in Mooseys Country Garden website
Pages in the New Zealand Natives Directory

Directory index pages have an introductory paragraph or two, followed by a list of the pages in that directory.

The list displays the page title, some introductory text, the date the page was created, and a thumbnail image taken from a picture within the page. Clicking either on the thumbnail OR the page title will take you to the page.

Most directory pages list the most recently added sub-pages first.

Pages

The journal pages are the longest pages on the site - there's just so much gardening activity to talk about!

Pages are the smallest unit of written content on this garden website - nearly one and a half thousand pages at last count!

Pages can be from several hundred to several thousand words long, and will contain at least one large garden photograph, often more.

Garden photographs

Moosey's Country Garden went digital a few years ago which has encouraged us take many beautiful photos of the garden.

Mouseover text is available for all images and links.
Mouse-over Text for the Curious

Every photo at has mouse-over alt-text for the curious to find out more - if your browser supports it. Rest your mouse over an image to make the alt-text appear.

The pictures do not always look their best when we squash them down to fit on pages, so the largest and most beautiful garden pictures are stored in the garden gallery. At least 1024 * 768 pixels in size, these images are great for desktop wallpaper or school projects. The size of the picture is listed below the title - helpful if you have a particular project, or if you are on a slower internet connection.

The webmaster has recently acquired a new super-dooper camera and so the UK gardening event coverage includes photo galleries within the gardening event pages, too.

Navigating the garden website

Each page of the site has a number of features to help you find your way around.

The clickable breadcrumbs - on the left just below the page title - show where you are within the website, as Home >> Directory Group >> Directory. The breadcrumbs on the right show the neighbouring pages. Clicking on any of these breadcrumbs will take you to that page.

Breadcrumbs tell you where you are and which pages are near by

You can also return to the homepage by clicking on the head image at the very top of any page, where it says mooseyscountrygarden.com.

Search & explore the garden

The explorer thumbnail and search form, as display on the Bengal Canna page.
Random Thumbnail & Search Form

On each page, just below the garden advertising, you'll find an explorer thumbnail. Clicking on this takes you to another, randomly-selected page on the site. The explorer thumbnail changes regularly to allow you to wander around the site and see a little bit of everything.

If you can't find what you are looking for, then perhaps Taj-dog can sniff it out for you? The search form is on every page, just below the explorer thumbnail. Note that the forum has its own, separate search engine.

Internal links to other, related pages of interest are included where ever we think of them. Links are green and underlined. Hovering your mouse over most links will show more information about which page it links to.

Keeping up with the garden news

Now that Moosey is semi-retired, she has lots of gardening activities and events to report. The garden news page displays the 15 most recently added or updated pages, to help you keep track of the gardening news.

Last but not least...

The bottom of each page includes yet more information. The page author is listed on the left, and a link to the forum on the right. You can get to neighbouring pages in the directory by clicking on the page titles below the author, or jump back to the top of the page. You can also go to the other directories from the links in the footer of every page.

Enjoy your visit!
